Deerfield CPC Flags Senior Housing Deadline Miss
Other Committee · Meeting of August 26, 2026
Deerfield's Community Preservation Committee found it may have missed a deadline tied to senior housing funding. Town Accountant Holly Drake reported a $1.8 million fund balance as of June 30, with about $1.3 million undesignated. Member Kathy Subluster said a warrant article requiring the Ad Hoc Senior Housing Committee's project to start within three years appears to have lapsed, jeopardizing roughly $70,000 set aside for site work.
"Right now, we've got a problem with a restrictive article that was passed by the town," Subluster said. The committee unanimously voted to send member Peter James's proposed indemnification language, protecting officials personally from litigation costs, to town counsel. A public hearing on new applications is set for September 9, with a fiscal year 2026 area median income of $109,900 for a four-person household reported for eligibility purposes.
