Deerfield panel weighs CPC funds for senior heating aid
Other Committee · Meeting of April 29, 2026
Deerfield's Ad Hoc Senior Housing Committee weighed using Community Preservation Act funds for heating aid instead of a standalone senior complex. Meeting for 21 minutes on April 29, members Carolyn Ness, Kathy Sylvester, Pam Predmore and Lily Dwight discussed routing CPC-funded rent, mortgage or heating subsidies for Deerfield seniors through the Franklin County Regional Housing and Redevelopment Authority, which already runs town-specific programs in Leverett. Dwight floated a home-share matching program, while Predmore pushed to supplement an existing low-income energy-efficiency retrofit program instead.
Ness warned "nobody had heard anything" about regional planning for a costly winter, calling residents "overwhelmed." The committee approved its April 15 minutes and adjourned unanimously, 4-0, with member Blake excused, setting its next meeting for May 20 at 5 p.m.
