Personnel Board Approves New Assessor Position
Other Committee · Meeting of February 26, 2026
Deerfield Personnel Board unanimously approves new principal assessor job description. The board voted 4-0 on a roll call of Holly Lankowski, Eric Farrell, James Cambius and Rulun Bialik to advance the position, which would replace the vacant administrative assistant to the Board of Assessors line, budgeted at $66,000, and take over appraisal work currently handled by outside vendor Patriot Properties. "So then we wouldn't have to pay them for that," Town Administrator Chris said of the shift.
Cambius, the board's Finance Committee liaison, pushed for clarity on how much of roughly $10,000 in contracted assessor expenses would be absorbed into the new salary. The board separately opened, but did not vote on, a proposed DPW building-maintenance position pushed by Finance Committee member Julie Chalfant and DPW Superintendent Matthew Morse, a first-draft employee performance-evaluation policy from Holly Lankowski, and a revised police staff assistant job description.
