Deerfield delays senior center furniture funding vote
Capital Planning · Meeting of April 6, 2026
Deerfield delays $36,000 senior center furniture buy, fast-tracks solar. The Capital Improvements Planning Committee voted unanimously Monday to recommend $36,185.63 for new South County Senior Center furniture but hold it for the fall Special Town Meeting rather than the annual warrant, after member Denise warned the panel was "putting the cart before the horse" ahead of a possible override vote. The committee also made a $125,000 rooftop solar project its top priority to lock in a federal tax credit before a July deadline, reclassified a $73,000 police cruiser as a capital purchase to ease the operating budget, and backed a $227,000 used freightliner truck found in Maine to replace a failing highway vehicle.
Deerfield's capital stabilization fund stood at $561,000 as of February, with $1.3 million in general stabilization.
