Deerfield Boards Approve Yankee Candle Liquor License, Eye Sewer Grant

DEERFIELD -- April 15, 2026, Deerfield boards approve a one-day liquor license and weigh a half-million-dollar sewer grant at a brief joint session. The Selectboard, Board of Health, and Sewer Commissioners unanimously approved a one-day malt and wine license for Yankee Candle Village at 25 Greenfield Road for a Girls Night Out event on May 7, 2026. Town Administrator Christopher Dunn briefed the board on the Community One-Stop grant program, which offers capital improvement awards of up to $500,000 with no matching funds required, with notices of intent due May 4 and full applications due June 3. Among the projects under consideration are engineering work to enable the South Deerfield wastewater treatment plant to accept private septage, a long-discussed but cost-stalled priority, and sewer and drain repairs flagged in a recent town-wide camera assessment by engineering firm DPC. Deerfield's newly awarded rural and small town housing community of choice designation further expands the town's eligibility. The board directed staff to file notices of intent before the deadline, with no limit on the number of applications the town may submit.
