Deerfield Board Defers Treehouse Brewing License Amid Noise Dispute

DEERFIELD — December 3, 2025 — Deerfield's Select Board deferred renewal of Treehouse Brewing Company's entertainment license Wednesday, citing unresolved noise complaints from two dozen residents near the South Deerfield concert venue. Chair Trevor McDaniel told the public the license would not be approved at the December 3 meeting, giving the board time to negotiate conditions for the 2026 outdoor concert season. Vincent Russo of 5 Hillside Road presented eight recommendations on behalf of a 21-resident neighborhood group, including independent acoustic monitoring, a firm 10 p.m. amplified-music curfew, and a moratorium on any increase in concert frequency. Jason Reboin of Klondike Sound, who provides audio production for Treehouse, outlined plans to reconfigure subwoofer arrays to create cancellation points behind the stage, while acknowledging that weather variability makes results unpredictable show to show. The board unanimously adopted new sewer use regulations effective January 1, 2026, and approved amendments to the South County Senior Center inter-municipal agreement shifting cost apportionment to a census-based formula that sets Deerfield's share at approximately 54 percent.
