Zoning Board Approves Thayer Street Funeral Home Conversion

Deerfield approves special permit for funeral home conversion to three-family dwelling. The board voted unanimously to approve a special permit for Gary Beaudry to convert the funeral home at 7 Thayer Street into a three-family dwelling, subject to standard conditions on parking and fire equipment. Board member Gaby Richard Harrington announced her resignation due to a recently adopted town policy barring employees from board service.
Vice Chair Mark Brennan objected to what he called an illogical distinction between boards and committees, moving to ask the Select Board to rescind the restriction, but the amended motion failed 2-0-2 when Potter and Richard Harrington abstained.
