Sugarloaf Condo residents object to 2026 property tax increases
Board of Assessors · Meeting of February 17, 2026
Deerfield Board of Assessors hears Sugarloaf Condo residents on tax increases. Five residents addressed the board about 2026 property assessments that jumped 30 to 39 percent, each reading prepared statements expressing dismay and characterizing the increases as unfair given their ages. Board members Skip Sobieski, Frank Leone, and Charles Shattuck explained that state law requires assessments based on recent sales data and proper procedures, but committed to reviewing property data for accuracy and possibly conducting property inspections.
The board also approved prior minutes and processed motor vehicle excise abatements and a land use code change.
