Deerfield senior housing committee pursues state grant funding for St. James property demolition. The Ad Hoc Senior Housing Committee met April 15 to advance its senior housing development strategy, receiving feedback from five developers who toured the proposed site.
Developers indicated primary interest in a 30-unit project and expressed optimism about recent Request for Proposals changes that increased Area Median Income thresholds and removed minimum unit requirements. The committee is pursuing a state grant for demolition of the St. James properties, with cost estimates of $225,000 to $275,000 for church relocation and $130,000 to $160,000 for rectory relocation.
The committee is also exploring the state's Rural and Small Town Housing Community of Choice grant program to fund sewer infrastructure improvements for senior housing.
