Senior center budget proposal doubles to fund Amherst Road expansion
South County Senior Center Board of Oversight · Meeting of January 8, 2026
DEERFIELD — South County Senior Center Board of Oversight advances new $400,000-plus budget proposal. Director Jennifer Ferrara presented the fiscal year 2027 budget to board members Joyce Palmer-Fortune, Trevor McDaniel, and Daniel Murphy, with spending more than doubling prior year primarily due to a proposed annual rental of 122 Amherst Road in Sunderland at just over $200,000. Ferrara noted residents have awaited this facility for more than 40 years.
The board scheduled four community forums and anticipates moving to the new location by October or November 2026 if the three towns approve the budget at annual Town Meetings.
