DEERFIELD — Senior Center Board discusses space, governance, and advisory positions. The South County Senior Center Board of Oversight, led by Chair Joyce Palmer-Fortune, discussed future home options following Deerfield Town Meeting's rejection of 112 Amherst Road in Sunderland, with Board member Trevor McDaniel interpreting the vote as reflecting the property's location outside Deerfield despite the center's three-town service area. Director Jennifer Ferrara outlined parking and concurrent-event constraints with an alternative location at 8 Conway Street.

The board aims to recommend to each town the appointment of one advisory member to strengthen oversight, with recommendations expected within several months. The center received an additional $2,000 in Mass in Motion grant funds, bringing cumulative funding from that source to $16,920.
