Deerfield Selectboard approves conservation protection for 31-acre Steam Mill Forest. The board voted unanimously to establish permanent protection for the parcel on Steam Mill Road as a town forest under Massachusetts Article 97 constitutional safeguards, following approval at an October 2025 town meeting. The board also unanimously increased cemetery plot fees from $350 to $650 per plot effective July 1, 2026, approved a Community Preservation Act letter of support for the 1821 Meetinghouse Clock Tower restoration project, extended a contract with Chris Curtis for grant coordination services through June 30, 2026, and approved a Class II Dealer's License for Two Feathers.
State Senator Jo Comerford attended to discuss state education funding and regional rural-school challenges.
