Planning Board advances ADU bylaw revisions, pursues master plan funding

DEERFIELD — The Deerfield Planning Board advanced revisions to town zoning bylaws governing accessory dwelling units and agreed to pursue grant funding for a comprehensive master plan update. The board reached consensus on permitting one ADU per lot with a maximum size of 1,200 square feet by special permit, with existing non-conforming units grandfathered in. Chair Denise Mason suggested engaging VHB Consulting for the master plan update, which is more than 25 years old; the board voted unanimously to pursue a Community One Stop for Growth grant with an application deadline of June 3.
The board will invite the Zoning Board of Appeals for a joint discussion on June 15 to review the bylaw revisions.
