Open Space Committee · Meeting of April 13, 2026

DEERFIELD — Open Space Committee prepares conservation fund and river access improvements for town meeting. The committee, chaired by Julie Caswell with members Christopher Curtis, Andrea Leibson, and Alan C. Swedlund, identified four speakers to promote the conservation fund initiative.

Plans advanced for a May 2 Indigenous history event featuring David Brule on local history and Native American stories, with approximately $150 budgeted for refreshments. Christopher Curtis reported that the Deerfield River Wild and Scenic designation process has drawn endorsement from 10 of 11 communities for 22 proposed river segments, with potential $220,000 in annual federal funding through a Partnership Rivers designation.
