Deerfield Finance Committee endorses property tax workoff program for seniors and veterans. The proposal, presented by Chris Goudreau of Mass in Motion, would allow qualifying residents to volunteer at $15 per hour to offset property taxes, with a maximum abatement of $1,500 per household and about 10 positions. Senior Center Director Jennifer Remillard will administer the program.
The Finance Committee unanimously endorsed the program in principle, 6-0-0, and asked the Selectboard to consider it.
