Finance Committee backs $20.3M budget, rejects Senior Center move

Deerfield Finance Committee unanimously backs $20.3 million omnibus budget for fiscal 2027. The committee rejected additional funding for South County Senior Center relocation (Article 6 failed 0-6) while recommending authorization to lease the Sunderland building (Article 7 passed 3-1-2) if override funding is approved. Recommendations also include $100,000 for a Conservation Fund, $130,000 for snow and ice removal, $51,176 for the OPEB trust fund (voted 4-1), and $400,000 for additional South County EMS operating budget funding subject to override.

The committee approved a $21,280 Conservation Agent position at 12 hours per week.
