Finance Committee approves FY 2027 budget slate across departments

Deerfield Finance Committee approves six-million-dollar budget slate for FY 2027 with increases in police and sewer costs. The committee recommended Police Payroll at $1,304,769, up 4.87 percent for union contract increases, and General Highway Payroll at $763,165, up 1.56 percent with normal step increases. Sewer budgets totaled $1,456,598 for Payroll and Expense combined, with most Expense increases from sludge disposal costs.
The committee trimmed Police Cruiser funding to $73,000 after discussion of overlapping reserve fund requests, and noted the current Snow and Ice budget has been exceeded by $65,000 with future increases likely.
