Deerfield Energy Conservation Committee explores renewable energy procurement before federal deadline. Walter Gray, Program Director for Alternative Fuels, and Fehr Gillett of Power Options, a nonprofit municipal advisor, presented procurement strategies bypassing the standard RFP process. To claim federal tax credits, the town must begin construction by July 4, 2026, or have equipment in service by year-end 2027.
Power Options membership costs $584. Mark Rabinsky of the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources presented the Climate Leadership Program and decarbonization roadmap funding, which Rabinsky recommended the committee pursue.
