Energy committee charts solar for municipal buildings

Energy Conservation Committee · Meeting of March 12, 2026

Deerfield energy committee approved prior minutes and set course for solar assessment on municipal buildings. Committee member Ryan Kingston is coordinating with Power Options, a clean energy procurement firm, to assess solar feasibility on the library, Department of Public Works, and wastewater treatment plant. Alex Galloway reported completion of Building Management Systems work at Deerfield Elementary School through Green Communities and discussed potential grant funding for next phases.

The library is separately pursuing LEED certification, which would fund solar and battery storage installation if awarded.
