Deerfield Panel Revises RFP To Remove Historic Church, Rectory
Other Committee · Meeting of July 8, 2026
Deerfield senior housing panel finalizes RFP language to relocate historic church and rectory. The Ad Hoc Senior Housing Committee spent its July 8 meeting revising a draft request for proposals seeking buyers to remove and relocate a former church and rectory at 83-85 North Main Street in South Deerfield, land the town wants cleared for potential senior housing. Members Pam Predmore, Carolyn Ness and Lili Dwight unanimously approved the June 24 minutes, 3-0, before adding Deerfield-specific language throughout the RFP.
Dwight noted the rectory's asbestos floor tile could be "encapsulated" with epoxy and carpet rather than removed, with abatement otherwise estimated at $4,000 to $5,000. The RFP offers nominal consideration to proposers who assume all removal and relocation costs. The committee will send its edited draft to staffer Christopher Dunn, who will attach utility and brownfields addenda before proposals go out.
The meeting adjourned 3-0 at 5:27 p.m.
