DEERFIELD — The Deerfield Open Space Committee prepared presentations for a May 11 Town Meeting vote on a $100,000 Conservation Fund. Chair Julie Caswell reported that the Finance Committee voted to recommend the articles April 27, noting the fund would enable rapid response to open space acquisitions and provide matching funds for Agricultural Protection Restrictions. The Community Preservation Committee allocates roughly $500,000 annually, with about $250,000 in spending recommended this year and state law requiring 10 percent for open space and recreation.
