Deerfield CPC approves five historic preservation grant award letters for town meeting. The Community Preservation Committee voted unanimously on March 25 to recommend grants for the Tack Painting project, Conservation Fund, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Mill River Cemetery, and the 1821 Building, with all eight members present at the remote meeting. The committee required that all grant agreements include conditions designed to protect Deerfield citizen interests, particularly for grants involving real estate.
The Mill River Cemetery grant incorporates a formal designation of historic significance by the Deerfield Historical Commission. The committee requested that town staff and Town Counsel provide complete information on grant conditions to town meeting voters to enable informed decision making.
