CPC approves Conservation Fund for town land acquisition

Community Preservation Committee · Meeting of January 14, 2026

Deerfield Community Preservation Committee approves Conservation Fund to enable rapid land acquisition. The CPC voted 6-2 to establish a fund, managed by the town accountant, enabling quick property purchases when conservation opportunities arise. Peter James moved to approve funding for Laurel Hill Cemetery restoration, which passed unanimously; CPC funds will cover restoration work only, with the Cemetery Association continuing to fund ongoing maintenance.

The committee deferred a Tack Painting restoration application from the Friends of Deerfield and Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association pending final submission from Chris Harris and Tim Neumann.
