The grant covers removal and transport of the historic painting to a restoration studio in Florence; applicants already hold approximately $10,000, with a private donor committed to funding the remainder of the $55,000 total project cost. The grant includes conditions restricting ownership to a non-profit and ensuring Deerfield resident access.
The committee also advanced two other preservation initiatives: the Mill River Cemetery preservation application, with Ben Benson to provide completed historical documentation at the next meeting, and the 1821 Building deed-restriction draft, which requires further legal review and an engineering study prior to restoration.
