Committee backs $100,000 Deerfield conservation fund for town meeting

Open Space Committee · Meeting of March 16, 2026

Deerfield $100,000 conservation fund heads to town meeting with committee backing. The Community Preservation Committee unanimously recommended the fund for town meeting, and the Open Space Committee is preparing talking points and informational materials to support it. Committee Chair Julie Caswell and member Alan Swedlund plan to attend a Conservation Commission meeting on March 26 to discuss the proposal.

The fund provides the town with flexibility to pursue land acquisitions and conservation easements outside the annual Community Preservation Committee funding cycle.
