CCI receives updates on infrastructure, school, and budget initiatives

Connecting Community Initiative · Meeting of April 23, 2026

DEERFIELD — CCI hears wide-ranging updates on infrastructure, school, and municipal projects. The Connecting Community Initiative received reports from multiple town departments on the Elm Street Complete Streets project set to begin in July with a four-to-six-month construction window, school enrollment declining to two sixth-grade classes, and significant budget pressures with healthcare costs exceeding $500,000 above projections. Funding discussions centered on pending MVP, 604B planning, and 319 implementation grants, with culvert design budgeted at $70,000 and conservation district work at $400,000.

Two Prop 2.5 override articles appear on the warrant, including a $103,000 SCSC Sunderland assessment, while a new capital stabilization fund is being proposed for SCEMS.
