Board questions proposal to relocate senior center

South County Senior Center Board of Oversight · Meeting of April 9, 2026

DEERFIELD — The South County Senior Center Board of Oversight questioned a proposed relocation without endorsing it. Three members present (Joyce Palmer-Fortune, Trevor McDaniel, and Daniel Murphy) discussed moving the center to 8 Conway Street in Deerfield from 112 Amherst Road in Sunderland. Director Jennifer Ferrara cited operational concerns: the proposed site has insufficient space for concurrent programming and inadequate parking.

Board members emphasized that neither the board nor the Deerfield Select Board has voted to endorse the location.
